Mobile Phone Use

At Southfield Primary Academy we recognise that mobile phones and similar devices, including smartphones and smart watches, are an important part of everyday life for our pupils and parents/carers. Our policy aims to:

• Promote safe and responsible phone and device use
• Set clear guidelines for the use of mobile phones and devices for pupils, parents/carers, visitors and volunteers
• Support the school/trust’s other policies, especially those related to child protection, online safety and behaviour.

Note: throughout this policy, ‘mobile phones’ refers to mobile phones and similar devices.

The DfE’s non-statutory mobile phone guidance says that pupils should not use mobile phones throughout the school day.
