Oracy Across The Curriculum
At our school, we place oracy—the skill of speaking clearly, listening well, and sharing ideas with confidence—at the heart of everything we do. Spoken language is far more than just everyday chat; it’s one of the most powerful tools children have to learn, think critically, and make sense of the world. Whether they are debating a topic in history, explaining their reasoning in maths, or sharing a discovery in science, we actively teach our pupils how to express themselves thoughtfully and listen to others. By helping children find their voice, we give them the confidence, empathy, and communication skills they need to thrive both in the classroom and in life.
